What is this light? Its happens on long journey's when I go over 70mph....

Its only happened since the Downpipe has been changed and put a new o2 sensor in

You like it

How can I solve it and how can it be over heating? Could it be the O2 sensor I've put in?....

im not an expert but if you have removed the cat and sensor then the ecu still looks for the same resistance as the sensor would give it, and as its not there the light comes on, i would fit the sensor off the cat and took it away somewhere, that will solve it.
good luck chap.

I think this can be fixed by fitting a resistor to the sensor to emulate the signal the ECU is looking for. Ask someone who knows more for the full story though.

my cat on fire light came on last week on a long journey too. and it was really struggling to pick up speed on the motorway.. i stopped, and then waited a minute for the light to go off.. and carried on in the slow lane to get to my destination (not too far).. found out what the light meant, and luckily I had an exhaust being delivered that weekend, with a downpipe. Just had this fitted and the car is still hesitating to pick up speed, and behaving the same as when the cat-on-fire light was on??? I dont wanna take it to the motorway as Im not sure what damage I could do.

Most older cars, the cat overheat is totally independant of the ECU, so if its on you cat IS overheating, if you've lost power it probably means you have a misfire! Later cars can use the misfire diagnostic to set the light though.
