My point being advocating such policies as shoot first ask questions later is going to result in innocent people being killed. He didn't run from the police nor was he acting suspiciously, the investigation revealed incompetence from the police on a staggering level. Unless we have our forces better trained and better equipped there cannot be a mandate for shoot first.

I hear what you are saying, I really do. But you are very wrong in your assessment (imo).

Firstly, the JCM shooting investigation revealed that he was not running away or actually suspiciously. All of that was just smoke and mirrors to try and cover up the police's incompetence.

Secondly, the much wider and incredibly important point is that there is a price for freedom. We often forget this, as we have previously enjoyed relative calm during our lifetimes. You have to make a choice of having a police state run country (eg old style Russia, and to some extent current day Russia) or you choose to have a free nation.

The very moment you go around shooting people without asking questions the terrorists have won. Its our lifestyle and freedom they want to take away from us. Don't give them their victory.
