Question

Thinking of buying this car from a dealer in Essex, but typicaly have very little info on it. It has an SIDC sticker in the window so I was wondering if the previous owner is on here...
It's a Blue WRX STI Type R, with 17" Gold Mim's and drilled front dics. The dealer has been runing around in it for about 7 months I think.
If anyone has any info it would be gratefully received...
Cheers

@Dean,

Is this the one without any windows, next to the salvage yard?
If so, I have also looked at this car.

@Dean,

I didn't think it looked too bad, however there were a few things that I didn't think were quite right, loose front grille and various other things (see drivetrain section). Did you notice if it had the carbon strut brace? I'm no expert but I believe this should be standard on this model. Did you notice anything that I haven't?

i looked at that too, around 6 months ago. It had no service history at the time, 32k miles, and the fog lamp covers didnt match. It was running pretty lumpy and I thought that a car of that nature and relativly low mileage should really have some history. Seemed a low price for a type R, and the dealer was really vague about the whole thing. Saw it again after all the guys cars were vandalised and it looked pretty sorry for itself. Got the impression that if you were looking to spend a load of money rebuilding it you may be alright. I bought a UK spec slightly modded turbo soon after and think it was a better deal. Jap insurance is still really hard to come by...good luck and I will be interested to see when it is finally sold.

Unhappy

Hmmm, the fact the dealer was so vague is what bothered me too. Said he was the second owner but didn't even know if it had been serviced. Was very keen to get shot of it quick, don't know how long it's been sitting in the yard with no windows ?
The engine undertray was in the boot, along with a rad of some type (poss A/C or trans/steering). I noticed a disconnected wire near the turbo and a lose hose near the I/C reservoir.
Was interested because it was so cheap, but think I'll pass...
Cheers.

Thumbs down

Yea I phoned them about this car too, didn't even bother about going to look at it. When I phoned the guy he said all but 1 window had been smashed and he had a quote for 1k for the windows but for some reason they hadn't been done yet???? got the impression he was selling the car at this price, as it was and the buyer sorts the windows out. He told me they have had the car for about 8 months and this bloke had been driving it for the last couple.
Didn't seem to know jack **** about it couldn't even tell me if it had a standard exhaust.

So I left that well alone!

Blimey if the windows have not been repaired yet, then it has been damaged for about 6-8 weeks. He did used to keep it inside the workshop, so may not have too much weather damage. However,the original owner...there is no way that they would buy a type R and not keep it well looked after,especially for when they come to resell it. It is a specialist Scooby and should have been well looked after,and this one looks like it has really been through the wars. I think you are right keeping well away!
