wheel bearings?!?!

Default wheel bearings?!?!

my 2001 bugeye wrx developed the usual wheel bearing noise from the rear of the car unfortunately! so jacked up checked wheels for play and nothing! is it possible that a bearing could be worn? sure i read a while ago that it's v hard to tell with the 4wd system could anyone please help point me in the right direction? thanks .

well i can only say get it checked out as soon as, because ive just had my 03 sti in for a front bearing and because it was un-noticed for a while its eaten into the hub aswell which means an extra £90 quid for a new one

one garage said it's tyre noise,but i think its def a bearing.

mine showed no sign until it took the ABS sensor out... Also check the tyres are not out of shape.. they can cause droaning just like a failing bearing...

it's a bad droning noise, no-one else can seem to hear it!! annoying..will check tyres thanks dude.

I had NSR go on my 03STi goosed the hub as well. Nice guys at SC found me a s/h hub to reduce cost. When it was going it made a rythmic woowoowoo sort of noise, thought it was tyre noise for 6 months ! doh. You need someone to put it on a ramp and listen round with a stethoscope. I'm sure Scoobyclinic would do this for you if you are near them.

nice one, i'm at scooby clinic on saturday anyway having a new turbo fitted,will ask them to check it..cheers mate
