I went to my local DVLA office on Tuesday morning to put my private plate on retention. The lady said my documents would come back in "a couple" of weeks, however ive now heard from various people that it can be sometimes 5-8 weeks??

Any experiences?

 

If they insist on inspecting the car it can take donkeys! Normally it only takes a couple of weeks.

 

The last time I put mine on retention, it took about 4 weeks.

 

Two weeks, may depend on the local office?

 

I done this about 2 years ago and it took about 7-10 working days using the Chester main DVLA office.

 

Agree with that, mine took 10 days from the Bristol Office.

 

3 Weeks for me. Done at the end of March/start of April.

 

took 4 days for me to get confirmation that my old plate can go back on the car along with the new tax disc however the logbook and retention certificate take a bit longer to turn up

 

Took about a fortnight for all the documents to come back.

They did warn me it could take up to a month
