good luck with your quest i too last month changed from a 2006 premier to a 2007 wrx.

 

Check all the usuals as you would/should with any car..

- check under bonnet, look for any signs of leaks - oil, coolant etc
- Get under it, have a good look for any problems like with exhaust system etc (can be expensive)
- check the body work - there's a lot of accident repaired cars out there. Look for signs of overspray, orange peel effect in the paint, color differences or runs in the lacquer - check panel gaps are even and line up
- check ALL the paper work - FSH is a must in my book
- Drive it (without the stereo on) and listen for ANY strange noises
- Check the clutch pulls well and all gear changes are smooth
- Ask as many questions as poss - if a private sell you can sometimes tell from an answer given if it's a genuine sell
- Get a HPI / data check - well worth the cash

Your welcome - basically check everything, all the electrics (windows, air con etc) as something like an air con matrix costs a fortune

I'm never shy when I'm checking out a car, I check everything including removing the boot carpet to check the boot floor.

I went and looked at a newage in London area (amazing house) - check the boot floor and it musta had the biggest rear end shunt going and the body repairs were the worst I've ever seen.

They'd over lapped the boot floor, welded it up with the wrong type of weld (only done from top side and not both) and then put sealer on it. Most people wouldn't even check this and have bought a car that looked ok but was actually a deaf trap should it be involved in another accident

 

yea was on there alot great bunch of guys and the motor is going great check out me pics.

 

Loads to check really so if you don't know what you are doing take someone who does.

Get under the car and check chassis rails, look under diff for fluids.

Usual panel lines matching/crash damage

Chassis number match V5 and other documentation

Usual Hpi check a neccessity (2 I viewed had Hpi history!!!)

Gearbox operation in all gears and high speed motorway check for vibrations

Check all temperatures too, and listen to engine when cold if poss. Should sound like a sewing machine with no knocking noises.
