dump valve or not
does any one now how to make turbo chearp, is it a type of dump valve or do you block the dump valve to make it chearp like the rally cars but ive been told it decreases the life of the turbo ?does any one now how it works and what to do

Ooo... I'll go and get the tin opener for the can of worms you are about to open
My opinion (FWIW) on the matter... Dump valves make the noise you refer to. They have no performance or life affecting benefits / detriments.
Impreza's and countless other turbo cars have them fitted as standard but they just dont make the loud noise.
After market dump valves are for the kind of owners who think neons, 'bass in the place', foglights and burberry are cool
Great for maccies car park

do you mean the waste gate chatter?
if so, it's the sound of the turbo stalling when you close the throttle plate.
it's more audioable when you have a induction kit bolted to the turbo, instead of the standard box.
and no dump valve....
cant see it reducing the turbo life too much (if any)

If you want to get the turbo chatter simply take your dv off and block it up. Then save up your money for a new turbo. Like said above it is the noise when the trapped pressure hitting the turbine veins. Not good for the lifespan of a turbo im afraid.

I kind of disagree.. a lot of the noise is the wastegate opening and closing, when you shut the throttle the pressure in the induction system before the TB is going to peak causing the waste gate to open which will release the pressure then when it closes back up it will peak again.. over and over...
I remember reading an article by an tunning/engineering company that basically put across the argument that a dump valve is completely pointless unless your running say 30psi of boost..

Three options:
1) Buy a Vent To Air dump valve
2) Buy an induction kit
3) Block off dump value for true noise, but reduces turbo life on some turbos.
Take your pic. All have dis/advantages.

the grp A cars still run a dump valve, but the spring on the inside it is just alot stronger letting out the higher psi witch is harmful to the turbo.
thus giving you the wastegate chatter your talking about.
so depending on the psi your running would depend on what spring you would need.
forge motorsport do lots of springs

Used to own a Corsa SRi too, good little "stealth" car, loved waching the rep brigades faces when you annihalated them at the traffic light grand prix
