Default Subaru dealership = bad experince!!!

So, I'm at my local Subaru dealership, having a brake problem investigated and the respose is……………………..

"We think you may have the wrong calipers fitted."

I mean WTF is that all about.

They also had the decency to charge me for it as well. They are the original calipers that came with the car, so please tell me how they can be wrong? Okay, it's an import and clearly they are different machines of the type they've never seen before.

They 'only' charged me for an hours labour though when it took them ane and a half hours though kind folks that they are. I said to the lady when I was paying that I'd be just as well off as paying for a bunch of monkeys for an hour to look at it.

So should I never go back there again or give them another chance when I need something else sorting?

It looks like I've identified the 'problem (lack of feel withthe pedal), I've harder pads fitted and they're much better once warmed up. I may change to a standard Subaru pad again.

Not impressed.

To be fair, if they probably dont see a lot of imports (Jap import?) and a 'feel' type of issue is dificult to diagnose, all they can do is make sure it works on the brake rollers evenly, check the obvious and give a conclusion if nothing measures or looks wrong.

In fact they look like they got really close to the actual problem, you could argue you had the wrong calipers and or disks for the pads

Im all for bashing dealers, but for an import i think specialist are the best bet as they charge less and see a lot broader range of products.

Just be glad they stopped at 1 hour work (£1,000,000 per hour as per usual? )

Your statement reminds me of the film 'incredibles' where the kid on the tricycle sits watching mr incridible and mr i says 'what you waiting for', boy says ' i dunno, something amazing i guess'

Have i gone of topic at all?

The calipers are the same as fitted to late classics and newage WRX's.

Whilst I agree they came close, they didn't suggest pads, which is the thing I looked at next. They drove the car until the pads warmed up, at which point there's more bite.

I just thought that it was a stupid suggestion that I "check the calipers are the correct ones", even after I told them that they were the original calipers and that the problem was recent.

Fast enough to take my money!

Personally i woudnt go back after this as the message maybe filtered to the workshop and they might remember you. So next time it goes in your car will get 'special treatment'

Probably bend your windscreen wipers and start whacking off on the bonnet if they really are monkeys!
