Cool

Hi guys I have a question about RB5s and PPP. I am thinking of buying a RB5 from a dealer but I am trying to get info about cars with the PPP. I have been told different stories but different dealers. The car seem standard on the out side but has quickshift is there any way of telling it been to prodrive ? and has 237 BHP?

I have been told all RB5 have 237 BHP also that the styling mode (large spoiler and back box are options with the PPP ?

Can anybody help !

as luck would have it I have just bought an RB5 with PPP. They should (AFAIK) have the big spoiler if it has the PPP kit and it should (again AFAIK) have 'WR Sport' written on the rev counter if it has PPP. (could be wrong tho )

you'll tell if it has quick shift by being very notchy and having very short distances between shifts.

go get one!

oh and not all RB5's have that much bhp (I think in reality it is nearer 250), only PPP cars.

and... while I think about it, it'll probably have a prodrive sticker somewhere, mine is on the boot.

I have one and this is how it is....

RB5 Standard 218 bhp non prodrive spoiler no dial conversion.

RB5 WR - 237bhp, Prodrive Spoiler, WR Dials, Quickshift, PPP (ECU, Intercooler piping and Backbox).

If you buy a PPP'd car it will come with a certificate from Prodrive.

Great cars though! Buy a WR without doubt.

what if you already have a RB5 and want it WR'd. can you have it converted at the dealers, because I'm sure they all started life as standard RB5's

you probably can but I've read some blurb that said it was only available as an option when the car was ordered....

No, not all RB5's are 237bhp, only those which were upgraded, by Prodrive at the time of purchase, to WR status, or those who have subsequently had the Prodrive Performance Pack fitted.

The RB5 upgrade to WR status, offered at purchase, was as follows - Prodrive Performance Pack (ECU, Rear box and revised intercooler piping) and the high(er) level Prodrive Spoiler. The quickshift is standard on all RB5s.

Both of these components could have been added at a later date. Secondly, it is possible that the seller has also, subsequently, replaced the ECU with the standard version (so they can sell the ECU separately - I mention this as I have heard it has been done before) reducing the power output back to the standard level.

Confused - I am!!

The only real way to tell is to ask to see the Prodrive certificate for the vehicle and check the date against the cars log book. I have also read that the original WR's have the 'WR' logo on the Rev counter but I wouldn't rely purely on this evidence.

The dealer should know all this, and indeed will be able to check with Prodrive as to the status of the car. If they don't, my advice is to move on.

The one step guide to seeing if the car has a PPP fitted
Open bonnet, look for blue intercooler piping to the lhs of the intercooler (front!) should have the words Prodrive written on it, if so then shes been to Prodrive for a PPP
