After a remap in November I have not had many opporunities to take the car for a decent drive and compare it's new lease of life.
Me and a mate went for a good drive a couple of days ago and I was able to compare my cars' performance (the STI) to an average performer (Skoda VRS-standard).
Admittedly it was always going to be one sided on paper but with all this "4 wheel drive transmission power loss" that gets branded about, and "real world driving", I was unsure how one sided it would be.
We went over the Snake Pass to Castleton and the roads were dry and very light traffic.
At the first opportunity to press the loud pedal I saw the VRS dissapearing at a rapid rate and had to keep slowing down as to not really upset my pal.
Overtaking was a joy and a breeze (for me) and again I had to keep either slowing or even stopping for matey to catch up.
Well as for a comparison................there isn't, as some would expect and others may not.
I later took out "matey" as a passenger and he was astounded at the sheer acceleration and explosive power "the beast" produces.
Now this was a satisfying drive out.

Actually I have amate with a Skoda vRS too. Are we not comparing a 340bhp car with a 180bhp (or so) car ?
Still will soon have about the same bhp as you hopefully, so I'm glad to hear it's a lot of fun !!

I've wanted to pitch my own vRS (Fabia - 180/290) against my own STi, but the wifey is not interested in doing it and i can't drive both...
Fully committed, there's no chance, but real world/traffic situations, the vRS would be off in a puff of soot before changing gears in the STi.
Sounds like you had a blast, and with a road called Snake Pass
