Default Injector size on "old" wagon

Hi,

I have just got my hands on an 94 GT Impreza Wagon. It's an imported from Italy. Does anybody know the injector size on these models?

Thanks

Thanks.

In other words these max out around the 280-290 BHP mark in standard fuel pressure?

maybe a tad more headroom in those, but I would say about 300-310max depending on chosen AFR and supporting mods

Is there a difference in grey top injectors from JDM cars to exported versions?

All flow reports I have seen (including my own) for the ej20g WRX injectors is 440-450 cc/min, but I think all of those were originally from JDM cars.

no the grey ones are all 380cc but agree they do flow reasonably well and there is not massive difference between them and the yellow 440s fuel flow capacity wise.

Agree, 380's do tend to flow well and TBH fitting 440's won't achieve a great deal more and is more hassle and more expensive then a Walbro and Reg on 380's.

NOT TRUE!!

These are my results. Stock grey top injectors out of a japanese '95 WRX sedan:
450cc@43 psi = 424cc@38 psi

http://home.comcast.net/~r.files/WRX/inj_flow.jpg

I'm not the only one in the US that have flow results showing 440+.

The 380 number gets passed around a lot (both in UK and Aus), but have never seen any flow numbers to back them up. So either it's a myth, or there are two variants of the grey injectors.

ie. 440s

Not other Subaru injectors, but have personally flowed Toyota 440 and 365 (3sgte and 4agze) at the same facility. RC engineering is top notch, so I say there is zero chance they messed up the numbers. Plus there is at least 2 other guys that I know of with the same injectors that give independent confirmation of 440. Have you seen any flow results showing 380? That would make things interesting.

If you think about it, it makes sense; '95 WRX came with 260hp stock (STi vairant had 276 with the same injectors). That's a bit of a stretch for 380 injectors given the type of fueling margin the factory puts in.

From experience, Standard Pressure, Phase 1 380's, 1.1bar and a v.safe 10.7AFR = 100% IDC
Standard Pressure, Phase 2 440's, 1.35bar dropping to 1.1bar and v.safe 10.8AFR = 97% IDC with STi Filter, 100% IDC with Green Cotton filter.

unfortunatly with different turbos, intercoolers, engines, exhausts, monitoring of idc, measuring of AFR, etc it is a little like comparing a drive in a 60s mini and a modern Ferrari..

was thinking of something more scientific like a flow test

Not sure about the mini/Ferrari comparison.

But it does show the limits of 380's and 440's on the 'average' setup.

Flow test for 380's Vs 440's would be good...I can't believe that this hasn't already been done my someone like Mark/Lateral.

ahhh, right, now im stumped, i thought from the last time i looked, they were grey, but i cant be 100% certain on that, im just gonna have to check when the car comes back.

if there is no major difference between the grey and yellow injectors, what would be the next stage up, is it the reds at 550cc??

haha ok, then let's say they should be grey "mystery" injectors.

Really, does anybody know where the 380 number originated? What is the part number for the grey tops as listed for the UK version? I might be able to get a part# from the JDM parts CD.

These are the part numbers out of the Japanese parts CD for the EJ20G WRXs; sedan, wagon, STi, etc are all the same.

16611AA100 superceded by 16611AA101

Are these different than what is in the UK parts catalog?
