Default Safe to use 1st orange setting on DCCD???

I've heard that if want my Type-R to handle and have the same amount of grip as a friends regular '94 WRX on dry asphalt/tarmac the DCCD setting should be set one or two marks above the green light settings. Is this so and could this damage the centre diff? since a fair amount of hard and aggressive driving will be happening.

Thanks the advice is reasonable helpful. Unfortunately no one says whether using the amber settings can cause damage to the centre diff. Most seem to be too concerned about driving with open diffs. Why the hell they bought 4WD's in first place beggars belief!!!

first orange should cause no issues at all, although i would be wary of using higher settings in normal road use.................

I can quite happily say that you CAN use a fully locked diff on the road in the WET. Long, fast, sweeping bends can be taken with more confidence in this manner.

This I can state from personal experience of driving an STI 5 RA Ltd - which has a manual DCCD setup.

In the dry, you shouldn't need to move away from fully open

I usually move it up as the road gets wetter. You can usually "feel" when you need more traction thru the front wheels as you go thru a conrner.
