Default Drivshaft sides ?

Are the front drive shafts (left and right) the same on WRX Classics ? They look exactly the same to me.

Also are the rear driveshafts on both sides same ? and are they same as front ones.

They aren't on my Sti V3 my 1997.

Rears are not the same side to side (especially if you have a viscous lsd) and my rears are nothing like the fronts.

Rears snap into place with a retaining ring, and the fronts are located into the box using spring scroll pins.

Other models could be different!

MY PREVIOUS POST WAS WRONG! (sorry)

This is a pic of my Sti v3 visc driveshaft with the extended spline for the diff.
It is photographed from the rear of the car about 3 months ago.

It is on the off-side of the car.

This is the NS rear half shaft.

Graham.

OK:
Rear diff:

NS shaft is the short one.
OS is the long one.

This only applies if the rear diff is a viscous type LSD as opposed to open, or plated.

The last 2 have short shafts on both sides.

Front shafts are totally different to the rears, and are not interchangable.

i spent a very unhappy month sorting out my rear shafts.
When i say 'long' i mean the long shaft is the one with an extra spline to to as my pictures. The acatual shaft lengths on the rears are the same.

A shaft is an assembly with a drive shaft that has 2 CV joints. It is the inner CV features that are different.
