You can either go for a "package", as described earlier: Powerstation, TSL, WRC Tech or then buy the parts yourself.

What are your aims/goals?

With £4k i would get the TSL333 pack or do yourself something similar: decat/sports cat full exhaust, ported headers, fuel pump, panel filter, remap.

That should see you about £2k

Then get the brakes and suspension sorted.

Suspension:
AST coilovers £1k, or PD springs, whiteline ARB's, ALK and geometry £800.

Brakes:
6 Pot APs £1500, or DS2500 pads front & rear, braided hoses and fluid. £500.

If wanting £4k on power, car is not as driveable, or you need super-*****/skill after the above then:

Fuel pump,
CAIK (aps/K&N)
3" decat
GT Spec 2 headers
MD321T Turbo
NGK7 plugs
APS 721 Front Mount
remap -- Andy F over nr Edinburger

Should see you around 400 in a car that doesn't handle or stop though.

Then the money you've saved on tuning can be spend on servicing & fuel.

The guy's got an STi, and is interested in tuning that. So why care about Evo's

exhaust and remap £1000

decent pads, springs fitted and geometry not even another grand

proper set of 18 prodrive rims and you've got one sorted car

as already said, don't blow it all on power mods. stopping is more important than going, then you want to make it round the corners

or just spend the grand making it go a bit quicker and pocket the reststd brakes, suspension and wheels more than capable of taking the 330 odd you'll get.

Stop is more important than go in my book so I would definitely recommend some braking and some handling mods. That way you won't be playing 'catch up' with yourself after having gone all out for power only to find you can't use it all thanks to your brakes and suspension need upgrading.

Having a quick car isn't all about power

Don't know if I would bother with 18" alloys.

Agree with the brakes and handling making a big difference to haw fast a car is, had AP 330's and P1 suspension on the old scoob which made a huge difference to how it handled compared to the original 2 pots, etc.

The std brakes and suspension on the new STi seem just as good to me though, I know if I was looking for ~350bhp I'd not worry too much about brakes, etc as I feel the std ones would cope (just IMO), you start looking for over 400bhp and you probably are better looking at the best stoppers you can get though.

Exhaust, filter and remap would be first on my list of things to do... or will be as and when I can convince the wife that it's really needed

brakes and suspension first - can then use what you've already got to the full!!
spend any change on exhaust stuff and build from there.............

I'd agree if you were talking about a 4 or 5yo car but he's talking about one that's a year or two old. The std STi stuff isn't that bad.

I mean the std 2 pots on the old scoobs were dangerous enough with the std power let alone when you increased it but the std 05/06 STi brakes are fairly sizable things.

I'd still agree that they'd need looked at when you went for big power though.

apparently a massive improvement on ride and wheel feedback.

prodrive recomend the upgrade to 18's if you go PPP, but don't know the reason for this TBH (other than to bleed your wallet some more!)

only said about the wheels to give a total transformation of the car for the 4k budget really

I had 18's on an S6 and while the ride wasn't too bad I've always prefered the ride on the 17's I had on the old scoob and on the new one (plus on the Leon Cupra TDi I have too). Only reason I'd look at going to 18's would be if the brake size required it.

as stated there are a number of ways to spend the cash, just depends if you want to do the foot work, get someone to fit the bits then get it mapped or go to a one stop shop.

Prodrive springs and laser alignment are a minimum really, brakes i would go for power upgrade or not, just to get the most out of the car.

I dunno about that. When getting a shift on i felt they didn't stop the car, or give confidence when it was standard. I would defo want at least a pad/hose/fluid change at the 330 level.

The 17's tramlined all over the place. I don't know how much was down to tyres though. Swapped to 18's and T1-S and the ride was transformed. One of the best mods for £695!!

Newage Brembo's are fine for well in excess of 400bhp on the road, if they are not there is something wrong with your braking system!!! What are some of you lot on!!!!

They might have been okay on your car, but in my experience, many of my customers drive their cars a damn sight harder than you!
