Do i buy a type r??
Hopeing for some free advice. I bought a 1994 L reg wrx 12 months ago and am considreing owning a type r. Is it worth the money? and is there much difference in performance. Appreciate the help
I had a '93 wrx before & after a yrs break I bought an STi5 type R. The type R is my favourite version, so there was a personal incentive to buy but there is more power, better handling & more exclusivity in the 'R.
It's hard to answer your question, & depends on how much you like the type R at the end of the day. If your just after a newer or more powerful varient there are other STis & type RA's etc available at a slightly more atractive price....

You need to drive one to find out.
Most are quite a hard ride, not too harsh, but harder than say a UK2000 or standard wrx.
Looks wise, I love 'em, but the long doors can be a problem to get in/out of in tight spaces such as Tesco's car park (not that you should be leaving it in Tescos!)
The DCCD takes a bit of getting used to and needs to be treated with respect - jump in a floor it and you may end up looking at where you've just come from!
Prices are still falling, but I imagine that they'll start to go up again in few years when most have been crashed/abused.
All this relates to the Sti Type R not the wrx Type R of course.
Alternatively, you could go for a RA if you wanted the performance, but with 4 doors.

I've had mine for over three years, it's low milage and generally in very good condition. It's a version 4 and I paid £14K, although you could probably pick one up similar for £7,8,9K???
For me, I'd go for a version 5 or 6. There's not too musch to choose between them to be honest, all great cars.
