Stamped on it's head? I would have hoped you WOULD put it out of it's misery, good to see you're a bird lover

Seriously, I know what you mean, I've had two "Pheasant incidents", one caused a broken headlight, the other no damage but a car covered in blood, guts and feathers.

My eldest has had a cat run in front of him, resultant collision cracked the plastic front bumper on his 53 plate Ibiza, previously immaculate.

What do you do? Pheasants: wild birds, no redress. Cats: allegedly wild animals, no redress

Sorry to hear about that, Rallying1. I had a munjack deer amble out in front of me at 5.00 one morning. Broke the bumper and damaged a driving light. Worst thing is that you can't claim on insurance without losing some protection of NCD -- or at least I couldn't. Managed to save a bit on repairs by shopping around.

Believe it or not those animals have as much right to exist on this planet as you or I! The fact that you have lost a few quid in repairs hardly makes up for the fact that they have lost their lives!
If you had hit a small child and he/she was still alive, would you have stamped on their head for denting your beloved motor? Just consider yourself lucky that on this occasion it was an animal and not a kid!

I'd certainly rather hug a tree than you mate. I see people with similar outlooks to you everyday in my work, it's becoming a sad world of selfish attitudes.

That's EXACTLY what happened to the one I hit that cracked the headlight. It was the wife's Xantia, and when I took the light out, there was a perfectly done pheasant haunch, stuck to the radiator.

Pity it'd been there a week by then

Gotta say that if an animal of some sort makes a mess of my car, I will personally take pleasure in putting it out of its misery, if it isn't already...

And I know the difference between a child and a bird

The only point of bl**dy pheasants and bl**dy grouse is so Range Rover owning, gun totting, green welly wearing, Barbour jacket, "society" people can meet to blast the b*ggery out of them.

I hate the bl**dy stupid things. There's no point to them. Same goes for grouse and pheasants too!
