Default Bang and Goodbye

Well after 3 years of Impreza ownership it is time to say goodbye.

I was on my was to have it serviced on Saturday when it went bang.
It was a 98 turbo unmolested and only 63K on the clock.

Did I enjoy it? Every second.

Will I buy another one? Probably not.

Not common on that year to be honest, don't know as the cars been sold. I would only have been interested in a proper job and I couldn't justify the expense due to the value (or lack of it) of the car.

It can happen to anyone; my MY00 lost a big end at 62k and nobody ever really found out why. The dealer's suspicion, based on another car with a very similar chassis number that had the same failure a few weeks later, was that the bolts that hold the oil pump on were defective or not done up properly.

I would, but the fact that I treated this car so well, spent £££'s keeping it tip top and it just let go like that has put me off owning another one. Don't get me wrong, if i hadn't had the experience I'd recommend it to anyone. But it's a case of been there and done that, now time for a bit of German.
