Link ECU, whats it all about
Can someone point me to a good resource on this Link ECU business?
I know its a replacement ECU, but whats a Generic Link as opposed to a Possum Link then you get a Lamba Link, Knock Link
I'm confused...
Maybe interested in some ECU upgrade next year, I would want a fit and forget type, I'm not really interested in tuning it myself after its all been setup by a professional.
My cars an MY00, so far standard apart from Scoobysport downpipe and HKS Hiper Exhaust..what are the Link options?
Also whats the box I've seen fitted on a few cars under the stereo?
Is that something to do with this Link device?
Thanks
John

try here: http://www.brdevelopments.com/link.html
all the info you've asked about should be there
the box under the stereo is probably the knock link (explained on br developments' website)
enjoy

John,
If you are near Brands Hatch, drop in and see us at F1-Moto. Opposite Texaco garage just down from main entrance.
My WRX is normally there and has been hevily modified including a link.
Happy to chat ...

Nigel, will do..I know Andy and Neave @F1 from when I had my VR6 a while back. My m8 works at the karting place ASM just up the road from there so I'll try and pop in sometime.

Ahh didn't think of checking BRD..and I was only up there 2 weeks ago getting my exhaust aswell.
Is it just a case of having this Possum Link dodad fitted and it setup then? I don't really want phone to BRD as I'm making enquiries, not intending to get one until the warranty is up on my car, don't want to waste anyones time..

I went down the possumlink road after reading some threads on this site, viewing brd's site and possumbourne's site.
Basically, they fitted the link (told me to hang onto the old ECU in case I wanted to sell the car and re-fit the old ECU), and then tuned up the car in 'real-time' using the ability of the ECU to dynamically read and alter the settings coming back from engine gauges (the knocklink sensor (?measures knocking), the lambdalink sensor (?measures exhaust gases ), etc.
First time it was tuned it was done on the open road by the mechanic driving the car and his mate sitting in the passenger seat doing the fine tuning.
Second time I took it to Possum Bourne's garage and had it done on the rolling road; this was a much more effective tuneup. The power and torque curve are now as smooth as and a warm start stall problem has been ironed out.
regards
