The quoted figure is 5.9 I think the blobs do 5.5. But can't see how an extra 10hp 10lb/ft of torque knocks .4 of a second off the 0-60 time.

Yeah but god knows how many gearboxes, clutches etc they wrecked to get 5.9 time, would say nearer 7 secs

I'd have to agree with scoobboy no idea how they got 5.9 out of a standard bugeye wrx

By launching it from 5k, which you can't do on a fwd. I think Scooby 0-60 times as a wholecan be a bit misleading. 0-100 is better, or in gear 30-70.

Won`t it also depend on the stature of the driver & the amount of fuel in the tank? Power to weight ratio? Just a thought.

Yes, as long as they're in proportion, drivers of lesser stature will be able to get their car to go quicker.

The current edition of Evo doesn't list the bug, but it does show the 03 WRX.
They got a 0-100 of 15.7secs when they tested it, 17.7secs for the Clio Cup.

Mind you, I don't think anyone here is claiming that the bug WRX is superquick - I did modify mine after all !!

If your used to them it`s not, I was in awe when I got mine, and got it past it`s run in period. It took me over 6 months to even start to get used to how quick it is. The thing that really scared me was you would be sat on a road thinking you were doing 60, and you weren`t you were going faster than this a lot faster. But now it feels normal, everyone else comments when you put your foot down , and i`m sat in the driving seat thinking I need more power. But sitting at 60 still feels like your doing 40.

I know this may sound like me trying to big up the bug. And it is the second time I have bought it up, but I don't think there is enough difference between the bug and the first gen blobs to 60, 4 tenths of a second faster. if you look at the figures they have a power increase of less than 5% to increase acceleration by nearly 7%. People are also forgetting about a modification to the bug between my01 and my02. apart from removing the radio antenna to the rear window from the a-pillar. They also changed the map and Up-pipe. I remember this because it happend a few weeks after I had ordered mine from europe, and I was hoping I was going to get the new one instead of being palmed off with the older my01. I have had a comment that mine felt faster than someone elses bug by a passenger. But don`t know whether the other was an MY01.

As people have stated before they feel that the classics 0-60 time felt conservative to quoted figures. Maybe the bugeye and blobeye is not that much differant to 60 maybe a couple of tenths and they pulled a fast one with the quoted figures for insurance purposes as the bugs are IG 19D`ish. Maybe if they quoted nearer mid 5 to 60 it was going to end up in 20, which would put it the same as the STI. Why buy a wrx if it is going to cost the same to insure as the sti. You might aswell save up and buy the sti.

I was disappointed with my bugeye WRX when i got it. I just expected it to feel quicker. The car I went from, was a Clio 172 cup. I've now got a Bugeye STi with prodrive kit, and I cant believe the difference from the WRX. Yes, I know its got about 80bhp more, but boy the difference is night/day. Long and short of it from me is : If you can afford to get WRX with PPP, go for it - You wont be disappointed!

5.9 is the closest thing to an actual fact after 17 replies, Mr Boobiman (nice name by the way, I like boobies)...
Apologies for the ramblings and imminent debate on what to get/not to get/whats faster than what etc... It's something you'll get used to

To be honest I don`t care about 0-60 times. I just love driving the car.
