knocking noise

There is a knocking noise off idle from r front of engine bay.Spoke to the dealer who said it was the dump valve and "they all do that sir".car goes alright but is this normal?MY98

Wouldn't have thought it was the DV. It only opens when the turbo is spinning and the accelerator is backed off. Does naf all at idle.

Didnt like the sound of pistonslap so got another dealer to look.
Wastegate actuator clicking.sounds louder in the car as it is bolted to the inner wing.
