Hi folks,i am noticing a weird noise from what i think is the gearbox, the prob is as follows:Changing from 4th to 5th when selector is moving across the neutral and entering 5th i get a weird whirring noise then when in 5th i can hear it but very faintly if i move the stick across in gear it makes the noise again i can sort of hear it in 4th as well but so faint i start doubting my sanity.Do any of you guys have a clue as to what i am trying to describe?.The gear changes are absolutely spot on with no grinding/crunching.The scooby had a replacement engine a few months back could that have affected the box? Any help please??

i get that under hard drivin in first an i get in fifth all the time, stops when i just roll in gear, i been told my gearbox is gettin near to end of its life, wich happens on classics
Mine does it too - a very feint mechanical "whirr" as 5th gear is engaged. Doesn't sound too untoward, and I don't think there's actually anything wrong with the box.
Thats just it there doesnt seem to be any ill effect or symptoms of gearbox failure??.I am starting to thiunk is something vibrating or loose possibly as the sound isnt full on metallic noise.
