Question

Is it safe to store the 100 gallons of fuel i've been panic buying (filled into empty milk bottles) over the last few days with my fireworks and barbecue lighter fuel in the garage near the gas cylinder we use on the outdoor cooker?

Cool

Should be fine. Keep sources of ignition as close as is possible, it will help with storage problems

I have found the perfect hiding place!

Under a big pile of discarded logs and old pallets in the local park, no one would ever look there!

You will be safe.

Stored in the manner you describe I suggest you keep the milk bottles uncovered, (to allow them to breathe. Don't leave any lights on, go back and check them in 2 days.
All you need to do is take a box of (safety)matches.......

Mike.

ARE YOU TOTALLY MAD?

There is far too much risk in using milk bottles. If you were to drop one and it smashed, you could easily cut yourself on the broken glass. Besides, they are supposed to be returned to your milkman for recycling.

Cardboard milk cartons are quite good though, they can be sealed with sticky-tape and stack quite densely.

I think it would be wise to keep a paraffin stove alight to keep out the damp (balanced precariously on shelf of course). DL

For gods sake man. Don't forget children might read these post and think following your example is fine. really..endangering our kids is just not on. You have put yourself in an obviously dangerous position which most people would immediately see the risks of.

Its not big and its not clever. If you have a milk addiction , which the consumption of 800 pints suggests you really should get help. I managed to wean myself off the evil white stuff and now have Jack Daniels in my tea.

PS The parrafin thats another issue, that should be fine. Keep your garage well lit ,to avoid knocking any over , by keeping some " dungeon master" style torches burning. Do be aware if poeple catch on they may try and nick your stash so I'd sleep in there and to avoid being overcome by the fumes I suggest you chain smoke.

I had to laugh, I went into Halfords yesterday to buy a jerrycan as i'm planning on going back to Scotland next weekend (been getting a little cautious with all the queues starting to get bigger and bigger) Anyway, I asked the bloke for a jerry can, and he told me we have been selling these non stop and have one left , but i must warn you.. that it is against the law to keep petrol if its not going to be used straight away.. I just laughed as i found it quite amusing he was giving me a lecture.

an ingenious solution to storing petrol is
to completely soak the seats in your car and
house in the stuff. Then when you need some
petrol simply give the seat a squeeze.

This is also an excellent method for storing
beer or other beverages for those thursty moments on the motorway.

May I suggest having the back seats dowsed in petrol, passenger seat in beer and your
seat in a petrol/depleted uranium mix for extra punch.

No wonder all the petrol where I live has run out !

So I went out late last night to siphon some petrol out of the Motorhome. Unfortunately, in the dark, I stuck the pipe down the wrong pipe and got a mouthful of sh*t

It's all your fault Sunil !

Doesn't do much for the unsprung weight, but I've managed to get 3.5 gallons plus some air at 32psi into each tyre. When I run out from the tank, I just put a tube from the valve to the filler and the air pressure in the tyre expels the petrol...and then you just pump up the tyre again before you're on your way ....
