Had a play with one of these the other day, left him for dead at the lights but he managed to keep up. He went passed me at a silly speed with a not very happy look on his face.

Si (MY00)

Like the new Integra a lot better, that gear stick just looks to silly.

Fizz's car can't have done more than 2000 miles, so it's nowhere near properly run-in yet.

Don't Honda Type-R's roll off the forecourt fully run-in?? I thought they did it all on a dyno?

You want support, buy a bra.

Sorry, couldnt resist. Cool car!! I like the little guys, and they dont look that MPVish in the flesh, and they are very quick, like UK Scoob quick, without a Turbo, which is pretty cool engineering.

Im sure you'll enjoy it, should be quite a few tuning parts arriving for this engine (Mugen already have a few, but big £'s).

I love Honda, they are so wierd in a Japanese way, like being able to outdo cars that have Turbo's, without going anywhere near a turbo, and they are still generally more reliable than most.

Nice choice, what colour?

Had a look at the Type R at the bike show the other day (it was attracting at least as much interest as any of the bikes on the Honda stand). To put it simply I was well impressed. Loved the looks, the wheels, the interior (especially the seats), although I'm not sure about the dash-mounted gears.

I'm gonna try and get a test-drive soon, but am interested to hear from anyone who's got one/drove one already.

Wow Tony, you have a run in 2.0l Turbo, and you can beat a NA 2.0l car, cool!!
Not by much I bet, if at all, and you pay far more for servicing, petrol, insurance, running costs, so all in all, you're doing well!!

There is actually more to choosing a car than if it is faster than a Subaru or not, some of us go for rarity, something a bit different, reliability etc, so its courses for horses, just be happy for the guy.

Well i only have a 1.6 CTR, and it is quicker than the 01, and the old shape, and has been known to pass a few modded ones.

The Integra is just as quick, its mainly down to Power to weight.

1.6 N/A Vers 2.0 4X4 Turbo

Seriously i love the Scoob and overall is a better package, Honda's have always been there thou.

Happy Motoring

I've test driven the TypeR. Didn't feel as quite as quick as my MY98 but stil very rapid. Also, gread handling - very precise steering.

In fact it was so good I'm getting one this Saturday!

To be honest with you, it doesnt matter what id have but i went for the scoob for 2 reasons, midrange grunt (lacking in any honda IMHO as they dont have any torque) and grip (lots of in the scoob )
Ok my fuel consumption is higher, so is my servicing, its not the classiest interior in my MY00 but i dont mind
Also having come from a 2ltr N/A pug 306 gti-6 the civic is going to be a shock (the 306 really pulled in 4th at 25mph as it gave 80% torque at 2k rpm!) but ill see if my local dealer has one in, just to test out of course but i dont think id ever go back to a hot hatch, insurance is still high for them and also having played with an M3 in my last GTi-6 i got wasted (something that doesnt happen now as its the other way round )
but as i stated, when my scoob was new it had trouble keeping up with a vtec, it has none now

Nearly bought a lovely looking Accord type R before the Scooby, like I nearly bought a Civic VTI before my RS 2000. Reason for not buying either..... that VTEC engine. Totally unsuitable for std, sane driving conditions. Zero torque and power delivery below 5000 rpm, then blat, everything, which coincided with about 80 mph, i.e bye bye licence. And it's very addictive.

The good thing is, at last Honda have put it in a bike frame where it belongs. Really annoyed when I had to decided against the Honda as it had a full Recaro interia, great build quality, and a gear shift to die for.

I had the pleasure of a quick blatt against a MY97 five door in my Integra day before yesterday in the wet. Scooby had much better traction out of hairpins than mine, but I slowly reeled him in thereafter, with two up...

Yesterday, with a wildly complaining wife in the passenger seat, whilst driving home from Huntingdon, I came up against a friendly chap in a MY95 saloon, and we were neck to neck all the way.

I have driven the Civic as well, nice and more flexible than the Integra, and about the same performance.

I always thought my scoob was faster than my Integra, but now I'm not so sure, except in the wet, when there's really no contest.

Happy driving whatever you drive!
