Engine Code

Hi Guys,
I have just bought a 96 'P' reg WRX Model No. GC8D48D & need a replacement engine, any idea what the correct code should be? I haven't got the car yet so can't check number.

Thanks Mick, do you know what will be stamped on the engine i.e. type D/E or EJ20K? sorry just trying to source a motor ready to fit when the car arrives.
