Brings it home tho eh.
This poor dude was from South Africa and he swerved to avoid an on-coming car and hit a central reservation post doin about 70mph. Guy he swerved to miss pi55ed as a fart and still alive. Bloke in this one and his mate...dead.

I just looked at the pics, OUCH!!!!!
I was in the fire service for a few years, and it always seemed to be the innocent ones who didn't walk away from the bad accidents. It just seems so unfair that the people that cause these accidents seem to walkaway (sometimes).

BMW's are subject to exactly the same laws of physics as any other make of car, the only real advantage of a bmw in this sort of scenario is the battleship build strength and secondary safety systems.

 

That impact must have been higher than 70mph?

anyone remember the car that went straight into the limehouse link tunnel last year ? Estimated speed of 70 mph, you couldn't tell what colour the car had been, never mind the model.

The passenger was his girlfriend, and she died later in hospital.
Heard about this, pretty frightening, he was the first guy in South Africa to take delivery of the new M3.

yep - and it looks mint. It was "only" a couple of panels that needed replacing, so there were no great problems. It also got a respray round the front so all the general stone chips that you get from day to day use have been sorted out too.

I'm, very very sadly, going to sell it though and replace it with a pug 205 to go racing in the BRSCC Roadsaloons series, and a diesel estate to tow it with.

It'll be a very sad day to see it go, but I can't justify keeping it if i want the race car and a tow car / runaround.

To hijack the post, but on a similar note, one of my best friends is currently in a coma in Hospital after a head on smash. He drove a turbo diesel Audi A4 estate, so wasn't the speedy type. Don't know too many details at the mo, but this was 2 weeks ago and he is not in a very good way.

Just makes you reflect and wonder if you should slow down sometimes.
