Default Oil Leak, But What Is IT???

My mates just had a crankshaft oil seal replaced (like me).
However, he still has an oil leak.

After he pulled up to my place it looked like oil had been gushing out, but it seems as though it has just spread over everything through the speed the car was doing.

We washed it all down, then started the car up, within 10 minutes I could see oil dripping from what seemed to be the cambelt cover, all along the bootom edge.
He said he's seen a bit of smoke or steam comming from the engine bay through the vents, I can see how, the exhaust is being splat with the oil.

What do you guys think this could be?

He's pulling his hair out!

Could be the cam cover gasket, or the oils seal on the front of one of the cams themselves..... either way, it sounds like it needs fixing, probably along with another cambelt.....

it will be the oil seal i bet it has lipped over when it was fitted, stops the oil for a bit then it comes out as a steady stream.

Funny you should say that.
When I had mine replaced last week the old one was distorted on one side (lipped over) and my mechanic suggested it had never been fitted correctly.

So I'm now guessing his new one may not have been fitted correctly.

Cheers for the replies chaps

How likely is it to be the same problem?

Is there a way to fit them, knowing it's not lipped over?
