Default Prodrive charity open day July 29 & 30

Press release from Prodrive

16 June 2006

Access all areas

Prodrive is opening its doors to motorsport fans on July 29 and 30 to raise money for the Oxford Children’s Hospital.

Fans will be able to see where the company designs and builds the Subaru World Rally Cars (WRC) as well as the Aston Martin DBR9 sports cars. All the workshops will be open so that visitors can see how the WRC engines, gearboxes and electrical systems are made; how the Aston Martin DBR9 and Subaru WRCs are finally assembled; and how the hundreds of complex parts for each car are manufactured.

The Subaru World Rally Team will be setting up its service park in the grounds and showing how it services Petter Solberg’s WRC during championship events.

Race and rally cars from Prodrive’s 20 years in motorsport will be on display, including Colin McRae’s and Richard Burns’ Imprezas, a 1980s Porsche 911 and MG 6R4 group B rally cars; James Thompson’s 1998 Honda Accord Super Touring Car; Alain Menu’s BTCC-winning Ford Mondeo and Jenson Button’s 2004 F1 car.

There will be food and entertainment for all ages, and for just for these two days, Subaru World Rally Team and Aston Martin Racing merchandise will be available at specially discounted prices.

There is a limited number of tickets for each day and the price is £10 for adults and £6 for children under 16 (under 5s are free). Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.prodrive.com/openday with all the proceeds going to the Oxford Children’s Hospital appeal.

Default Prodrive Open Day

We thought that some people may not want to email credit card details, so you can download the booking form at www.prodrive.com/openday and post it with a cheque if that helps?

We are looking to keep a special area on both days, where only Subarus can park up if there is enough interest.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible on either day - should be lots to see and do.

Tickets arrived this morning.

Ben - any more about getting Subarus parking all together?
Do you need to know numbers in advance?

The Tyne TEes Scoobies and myself organised a private visit a couple of years back and its absolutey brilliant place to visit especial when Dave Richards flys his private helicopter straight at the building and lands it on a motorised helipad which looked like it came out of the set for Thunderbirds. The most impressive and sort afetr place in PRodrive is the rubbish bins. They are filled with everyhting you would ever want for an Impreza. Anybody going will absolutely love it. Unfortunately I cant make it as I am using an ex prodrive car in Kames Scotland on a rally on the 30th.
