Hello everyone!

My name is Tim and I'm a new comer to Europe. I was recently stationed at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. I've been here for a few weeks now and absolutely love it aside from not being able to find a Subaru. I recently sold my beloved MY00 Impreza 2.5RS to a friend back in the states when I received orders to my new duty station and I miss it terribly. On the bright side, I now have the opportunity to buy a real WRX which is very exciting!

I used to be a member of a club based in the Lake Tahoe area called SECCS (Subaru Enthusiast Car Club of the Sierras) whom I raced with at track days and at local auto crosses. It was a great group of guys that were very helpful and willing to teach a new comer to racing such as myself. I've had the opportunity to race at tracks such as Thunderhill and Laguna Seca which were amazing!

That's all I have for an introduction, but I will leave you with a few pictures of my old Impreza.

The cork screw is actually very scary! You can't get an idea of how steep it is in GT4. I'm hoping to make it to the Ring in August just to visit, or even take a lap or two if I have a car by then

The first WRX was introduced in the states in "01 or '02 with the "bugeye" body style. As for the "classic" body style, they came with either 1,8l, 2.2l, or 2.5l engines. All naturaly aspirated.

 

 

I know! Now you may understand why I'm so excited to be shopping for a real WRX.

Not sure how much Scoob tuning goes on in Germany, but you could always treat yourself to a holiday in England once you've got it, and do some serious wallet damage to get it into mind-blowing spec Plenty of awesome tuners over here who'll get you whatever you want...300, 400, 500+bhp, and superb handling packages to boot If you're gonna do it, do it right so's you've got some good stories to take back to the SECCS crew on your return

Yes, I do miss the roads. I learned how to drive in the Sierra Nevada mountains and got a first hand lesson on how not to drive mountain passes in the snow

I've read a bit on the tuning companys in the UK. I need to find a car before I can start planing how I want to modify it

My old Impreza was some what stock, but still a blast to drive. It had Prodrive P1 springs, Koni Sport Struts, a larger 20mm rear sway bar, upgraded Group N suspension bushings, and a Prodrive Oval exhaust which was considered quite rare in the US on older Imprezas.

Trust me, you guys are envied back in the states. I see threads entitled, "Look at the amazing GC" and it's a link to one of your member's cars rides. I've been browsing this site long before I moved to Germany.

hello mate,i was based in germany myself for a while,near dortmund and then between hannover and hamburg.had a few good times.goodluck with the car hunt.there are lots of good scooby forums to browse,have a good look around and you may find the right car,not sure what the selection would be like over there but for the sake of a weekend you could pop over to the uk and find a beaut.

Welcome mate, I was over in Germany for a bit, at Brugen, now called Elmpt. Used to spend a lot of time in Monchengladbach and nip over the border into Roermond mow and again.

It'd be good to see you if you ever popped over to some of the meets we have, once you've got yourself a motor.
Any ideas on what you'd be looking for yet?

The weather is actually a welcomed change. I've lived in the desert my whole like so this rain is wonderful. I'm still amazed at how green it is here.

Yes, I've driven turbocharged Subarus before. I've raced my close friend Pete's MY02 WRX many times and I loved it. I also got the chance to play with a '06 STi for two days while I was deciding wether or not I wanted to purchase it before I left for Germany. I made the Subaru dealer quite mad because they gave me the car with 14 miles on it and I returned it with 120 miles and told them that I wasn't going to buy it

Get over to the UK and get a nice Jap Import Type-R, RA, or Spec C etc! You wont regret it, and when you take it back to the US with you, everyone will be well jealous!
