Fragal,

I'm getting a similar noise on my '53 WRX through all gears, I also notice a whirring sound when the accellerator is pressed at cruising speeds, most noticable at 50mph in 4th or 50mph in 5th.

Let us know how you get on, i'm taking mine to Subaru on Friday for them to have a listen.

Matt

Will do mate, im going home after work to get the car and straight to his so he can take it for a spin and take a look. Hoping its something like a heatshield of bearing and not the box! Due for a remap soon and dont wanna have to worry about that hehe
