I have a 55 plate MY06 JDM import - two set of keys are standard.

If the seller is genuine and naive or smart and bulls***ing you!

Service book will come with the car - it will be in Japanese though! Most importers will provide a service book of sorts in English - probably not a genuine Subaru one tho.

Getting a key? If you have the number of the key a Subaru dealer - although they may want chassis numbers etc - should still be OK. If you are stuck give Iain at Litchfields a call.

Personally I would be concerned about a car being delivered with only one key. It may be a genuine mistake and the vendor has lost it. Or is may be a con - it is a risk albeit probably quite small.

Rannoch.
I have had many questions answered form Ian Litchfield he has been very helpfull but i am now felling like i may be taking the piddle a bit as iam not byeing the car from him. what i was most cocerned about is if it gets nicked will i be insued if i can only produce 1 set of keys?
And if this is a scam I lose both ways, lost purchace money and no insurance pay out.
I will have to sleep on it .... Again.

Thanks again for your input

Darren

I brought my first scoob with one key/alarm fob and it turned out the previous/previous owner kept a set when he swopped it for the previous owners cossie. I got them back though because the coppers came up from london because of a car jacking down there and they got the guy with the keys but the car was never seen again. Subaru told the coppers that there were 4 other subarus that key fits in the UK so they had to eliminate the other 3 to nail the car jacker. The previous/previous owner proberly dumped it when coppers ringing up about a missing set of keys so i was able to recover them from him before the scoob went walkies...

I'm glad i read this post today after some sleep as I don't think I would have slept at all.
Thank Student scooby for your story, still may go for it as the seller informs me he has both sets of alarm/immobalizer keys and even after telling him about the many people who got two set from new he still insists he was issued with only one set and he imported it himself direct from japan.
