Unhappy Please tell me what's leaking... pics included

Can you please help... The following pictures have been taken of where the liquid (assuming oil is leaking from)... it's a slow leak that gives a white smoke when engine is hot... (Jap 95' WRX 40k mileage)

Help...

I hope the pictures come out. I have taken pics of where the oil seems to have spilled / leaked... there maybe more than one source... I think the steering oil is leaking... but so much that it has reached the bottom of the engine...???

Some have suggested 'rocker gasket' on the left...???

Where is it coming from...???

from what i can see, it looks like seaping power steering fluid, not a major seap/leak either

Default Re Oil Leak

Ok looks to me like the power steering tank leak The tank is fixed to the pump
by the 3 bolts and pushes down into the pump, The only thing to stop the oil from leaking is a small O ring about 12 mm dia that is on the shaft this goes hard and lets the oil by this went hard on my my95 wrx 3 times
My last problem with mine was the sencer wire letting the oil out but that was a bigger mess than you have
Its a diy job but makes a mess as you need to remove the oil tank and all the oil runs out

Hope this helps Phil

Thanks for responses; would the steering oil leak reach all the way to the bottom...?

Some say it could be a rocker gasket... pardon my ignorance, I'm no mechanic but a mere novice... could it be this...?

How much will all this cost to fix and clean...?

Help please.

If it is the power steering fluid tank leaking not to expensive, have you checked your power steering fluid level to see if it is that?

my one suffered the same problem back to 2 years ago. it is definitely power steering reseroir leaking. change the gasket will get it cured simply. will spend a couple of quid and thats it.

both our scoobs have suffered power steering Reservoir leaking, and it does travel a long way, it stinks when it burns off too!

one was fixed with a new Reservoir as the new gasket method failed to fix it and the other was fixed with a new gasket.

yeah definatlt agree that it is your powersteering reservoir. Shouldn't set you back a lot to fix either.. Keep an eye on your fluid levels and you should be fine

My 94 WRX type ra is in the garage at the moment oil is leaking out of the 2 cam cover seals one on drivers side ,one on passenger side,Also seeping from steering reservois .These cause white smoke to come from under bonnet and out of vents looking quite concerning.Took it to a good local guy who is a subaru guru and he's quoting aroung £500 labour to change timing belt ,fit ggr uprated oil pump, fit lightened pulleys with new belts,Oil change and do the cam cover gaskets both sides. The only problem is the engine might have to come out for the driver side cam cover gasket so the labour cost dosent seem that bad.Just thought i'd share it with u.Hope ur's is just the reservois because it does find its way down on to ur manifold and burn white smoke.

The engine does not have to come out to do the drivers side rocker cover gasket as I did it on my 95 wrx .
