engine light + fans on

Default engine light + fans on

engine light came on this morning and has staid on since the rad fans are also on constantly even from cold, the car still seems to run perfect tho

Sounds like it could be coolant temp sensor - although I'd expect the car to be difficult to start, as there would be no enrichment.

already had one not to long ago, and i tried hanging the old one on and earthing it out tonight but id made no diffrence

do your ecu check mate.... that does sound like the temp sensor tho...

ive just gone through this with my classic, the ecu will go into safe mode and put fans on to stop the engine getting hot, the only way to check it is do an ecu reset to get it out of safe mode, then carry out an ecu fault code read and see what it showed up, mine was a coil pack gone down!!!

might be of some help to you???
