Yeah, it's very strange; prices in my area have been dropping steadily over the past 2-3 weeks. I'm paying 70.9 for NUL.

Blimey!

I thought my local Esso at 69.9 for UL was cheap!

Where is it Pete?

I was looking last night - last time petrol was consistantly below 70ppl was May 1999 according to my records.

Was reading an article which said petrol (excluding tax) is at its lowest price for three years.

Personally I'm amazed at current petrol prices, and the lack of trumpet blaring about the reductions. Normally someone only has to drop a spoon anywhere in the Middle East and the petrol companies use it as an excuse to raise prices.

Maybe some of the Arab nations have dropped oil prices to win some brownie points?

All the best,

Dean

Thumbs up

The oil companies are foobared (for once.) Normally vehicle fuel makes up a minute percentage of their output, with the big buyers being airlines and heavy industry. Now that airlines are not using as much, OPEC don't have a captive market, so they must now compete for business by cutting their prices. I can now pop over the border and get NUL for 45p/l

It does seem strange but factor in a huge reduction in aircraft flights etc and consumption nose dives.

Okay prices have come down and have been cheap in Yorkshire for the past couple of weeks.

What does this mean ? Well, its license for the govt to put it up by increasing tax.

You have been watching.....

On the off chance that somebody actually wants to know why :

Fuel Prices At A 2-Year Low

As the price of crude oil continues to fall the knock on effect sees a welcome change in the UK experiencing the lowest forecourt prices in 2 years. The move follows a collapse in the price of a barrel of oil from US$27 before last month's atrocities, to US$21.50. Oil analysts said the slump in demand is the knock-on effect of a general loss of confidence in travel, particularly in the US.
Demand in the US has collapsed because people are in fear and are staying at home and locking their doors, the drop in demand for aviation fuel because people are not flying in the current political climate has forced oil suppliers to drop their prices.
But as the international price of oil continues to fall, speculation is growing that the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) will move to reduce levels of production.
The cartel is due to meet in mid November to consider whether to change levels of production, though it could decide to act before then.
The oil exporters have recognised that, while demand is falling, any decision to shore up prices could prove politically sensitive.

Still looks expensive to me

[Unfortunately there does not appear to be a smiley to show the correct smug expression of someone who lives in the Channel Islands and enjoys much cheaper petrol]

In guernsey its around 40p per litre. The only way I can get it that cheap is to fill up my boat (tax free) and then accidentally transfer some to the car. I hope the Jersey Chancellor doesn't read this board. His £1m+ boat runs on diesel anyway
