Default why do people change maf

why do people change the maf sensor on there scoobs to a differant make eg- nissan

i know some people will have done it because they maxed it out. but do others do it because they last longer than subaru ones

i'll be interested to see what people say about this. i know that subaru maf's are week and that its not a good idea to run inducion kits so maybe people change to different type to put an induction kit on. are they a strait swap?

specifically 300zx or GTR ones iirc. They're made by the same folk as the Subaru ones (Unisia Jecs i think, the Jap Bosch )
