Question

Hi!

Is there a considerable difference between the WRX Sedan and the sports wagon in terms of fun, handling etc? I am planning to buy a new WRX but can't make up my mind.

I read in some magazine that there were big differences between the GT sedan and DT wagon (MY00). Is it true?

In terms of fun, depends on your definition.
1) You can fit a sheep in the back of a wagon for that themed weekend away
2)Hmmm, well dang I don't know how to follow that! LOL
Did read somewhere the wider tracked sedan may be more capable on track, but the wagon may be more 'fun' for the same reason (too much grip for it's own good on the sedan)
I'm getting a sedan in, ummm, 6 hours.

Good for you Chuckster!

Thanks, Luke. I've read in some test that there were much more body roll and understeering in the wagon.

Is there anyone, who have driven both, for more than 10 minutes?

i have a MY01 wrx wagon and my mate had a 4dr- drove his loads- no difference at all on the road. both understeered at the limit but neither more than the other. bodyroll was the same too.

only difference was the PPP sounds louder in the wagon because theres no boot to mask the noise

Good point Tiggs.

I had a MY98 Wagon followed by MY00 sedan. You do get alot more road noise in the Wagon and in my opinion it doesnt look as good. That said passengers in the back are less likely to be car sick. Its a darn site more practical. It doesnt have the sedans tinny boot lid and you can get 9 foot surfboards in it if you lie the passenger seat flat. It also has roof rails.

Thanks guys!

I might go for the wagon then. It is a pity it doesn`t have the widened wheelarches, then it would look a lot better than the sedan, I think.

By the way, do you know anything about the MY02, I heard that there would be leather seats. Any other changes?

I've ordered a MY2002 wagon, and with concerns about the slighlty narrower track than the sedan, I have opted for the front strut brace which I believe will make it corner much flatter.

I have both a wagon and a sedan. The sedan does handle better than the wagon but that be fixed. Install a rear sway bar from a sedan onto the wagon. If I had to choose one or the other i'd take the wagon because you can do more in it.
