Unhappy Failed MOT for the first time in over 4 years...

As the title suggests... My 95' Jap WRX (40k mileage) failed on emmisions and a possible 'Lamda' sensor failure...

The car has been stationery for over 6 weeks (sadly no engine start) because I had been in hospital... (another story... had pneumonia and Influenza = killer combination; was in ICU for 18 days... now recovering)

Could it be that the Lamda sensor is dirty...can it be cleaned... if it needs replacing is it expensive...

Please advise...

Thats what caused mine to fail on emissions a couple of years ago. Should be less than £150.
