Spec C timing on a slightly modified STi7
When I had my car remapped my mapper gave me the option as to whether I would like to have Spec C timing. Thinking that anything Spec C has to be better I said yes.
Was this a good idea considering I only have a 3 inch exhaust, standard STi7 turbo and Scoobysport up-pipe?
My car seems to have superb top end but feels sluggish low in the rev range (2000-4000). I was wondering if the timing is not matching my mods?

Should your mapper not map to what he sees on the laptop, feels, i.e can it take a bit more ignition etc?
this is what the mappers do here - i.e you end up with a one off map suited to your chosen mods, not a generic spec C one or whatever.
I have to be honest, sounds like your chosen mapper is a bit of a plum! i presume this is ecutek we are talking?

I definately wouldnt call him useless because he is well respected and does know his stuff. It was a generic map (not specific to my car).
I am not looking to have a go at anyone, I am just curious as to whether anyone thinks my map may not suit my car or if I am expecting too much?

Maybe and i dont know the spec c has different cam profiles,Valves etc.So it could be the spec c map is got giving you the best results on your car.Can you not ask for a one off map for you car or even some alterations to the existing one.I have a sti7 ecutek'd and its certainly not sluggish inbetween 2000 rpm and 4000rpm,Infact its on full boost at under 3000
