Has anyone used one of these or would I be daft buying one and not sticking to the regular HKS/Blitz stuff?

 

Most people will say that unless you have to, stick with a panel. Also, depending on what year your car is, you risk knackering your MAF (99/00) and in turn knackering the engine.

Personally I quite like the noise they make and if I got one it would be a K&N but don't fancy doing the car any damage.

I have one fitted to my Mini Cooper and from a 1.6 engine its sounds awesome.

IIRC with a turbo'd car, the induction kit is going to have more of an effect on the engine and indeed performance.

Unless you box in the filter it will suck in hot air from the engine bay and reduce performance. Also with the air flow rate altered it might effect performance.

If your car is an 03 then why not look at doing the snorkel mod? Removing the snorkel that feeds the panel filter. Supposed to improve things on new age cars.

Run a search for the DIY.

 

The typhoon fits in the inner wing like the APS so hot air shouldn't be an issue. You would be well advised to get a remap before fitting any induction kit

DOH! Didn't know that.

Think you mean remap after fitting. Everyone in the know says remapping after the APS CAK is fitted is a must so would assume its the same for the K&N.

As for the reason, again I assume its down to altered air flow etc.

 

HI m8 I just bought a typhoon from Ebay.

but as mentioned above some recomend that you get a remap but what i dont get is why?
because i thought that the maf sensor is fited to the typhoon kit hence telling the ecu howmuch air is going in to the engine then the ecu adjusts the air fuel mix accordingly.

so this is why i havent fited it yet i want someone to answer this for me.

Fitting the induction kit allows more air to be pulled into the engine. This can be outside the parameters of the ECU settings. So an adjustment will be required. This is my understanding any other comments?

 

i have a apexi induction kit for over 3 years and its fine just make sure you have a knock link and change the maf every year to be on the safe side

 

S**T i just bought 1 of a member here for my bugeye now im too scared too fit it,are there any bugeye owners out there who have 1 of these fitted and can put my mind at rest????
