Default Sound complain on MY06

Well, pick up new one (STI) few days ago, and expected some sporty sound but there is no an S from the sound word. Very disapointed So, what to do to let the beast out from exhaust. Any advice? I need something safe for my motor without remaping. Thanks

lots of aftermarket exhaust available. prodrive have one with sports cat which gives a nice sound. good if you want to keep your warrenty. speak to your dealer about that one.

Burble has gone from the 2.5 engine then?

Thats a shame ..... it's a vital part of the Impreza experience .....

You are right, the uk cars still have unequal headers.

I thought the new model had equal length headers???? Including the UK model??? Maybe im wrong but there has been a lot of press about the burble missing from MY06 models and i presumed thats why.

The burble is still there on the MY06 2.5 once the rear silencer has been changed.
It's only the JDM 2.0 that has equal length headers and hence lose the burble

My my06 uk car has no burble, put my h&s back box on at the weekend and apart from looking better, no real difference in sound.
Funny thing is i'm not really bothered, yes I enjoyed the burble on my 03 wrx, but the new car is so much better that I actually don't miss it.
I pressume this is a ploy from subaru to try to improve its image and distance itself from the Chav brigade !!

I've got a 3" milltek system on my MY06 STI and the burble is back!! Well sort of, doesn't quite sound like the good old classic we know and love, but so much better than standard.

Big up the boys at Powerstation. Now pushing out a nice cheeky 340bhp

Ecutek remap
K&N
3" Milltek system
Full T25 suspension
JDM front splitter

What did that cost? Is it the £1600 packages they offer?

So where's the burble gone? If the MY06 has unequal headers then presumably the sound is lost by the exhaust silencers/cats and additional sound deadening?

I agree with deano555, I've had 2 classics in the past and although I loved the burble (especially with full decat), I don't really miss it that much and quite like the slightly more discreet sound of the MY06. You can't hardly hear the thing at idle though and there's certainly no 'wobble' in the cabin (although that could have been due to knackered engine mounts in the classics)!

LOL... typical scoobynet myth . My 06 still has the burble but the standard exhaust is soooo quiet you can hardly hear it. A full decat will sort it if it bothers you that much... and the kids at McDs aren't impressed with you anymore

Remember when comparing to your classic that it was just a bake bean can compared to the build quality of the 06, so in the cabin you won't hear much. My classic used to wake the dead at times it was that loud.... oh those were the days

Tony.

Those were the days indeed. I've certainly had no complaints about the MY06 from neighbours yet

Ive been saying that for the last 2 years about my JDM STi and all i get is that it doesnt sound like a subaru and its too quiet but i still have the standard exhaust on with just a backbox, i get more turbo whistle than others do (standard ) and its noisy enough when your on the go as the lack of sound proofing shows but its good fun on full chant, a real rally car sound
