Default How to uninstall a heavily glued spoiler?

How do you remove a spoiler that has been heavily glued to the bootlid by the bodyshop? ...off course without damaging anything.

Might be able to loosen the glue by heating up the inside of the boot, under where the spoiler sits, using a heat gun/hairdrier, so the boot metal is 'warm/hot' to touch, but not too much though so it doesnt bubble the paint. Then when the glue has hopefully gone soft-ish use something like an old store credit card and try to push it in between the spoiler and boot surface so it cuts through the glue, you'll then need to use something longer to get all the way under the spoiler, but i cant quite think what to use that wouldnt scratch the paint...

Just an idea..

if they've used sikaflex or similar, you've got no chance. sorry.

someone gave me a tip of using fishing line to 'saw' thru the bonding agent (like flossing!) didn't work for me, but in the unlikely event they've just used silicone it might help

Its black rubbery like, I think its sealer. If only we live in a world where there are no criminals, then we wouldn't have to spend money on alarm systems, locking nuts, and bolting our spoilers so not even god himself can take it off.

the 2 types of sikaflex i've used have been black

not an expert but you'll be able to dig your nail into both but silicone will be more elastic. if you can pick bits off in little chunks it's probably sikaflex (or similar)

theres filling and bonding sika - as above cheese-wire will take a lot off but youll require a fair amount of 'finishing' thenceforth..!
