got a wrx turbo wagon MY01
about 3 weeks ago whilst going round a tightish left hander in 2nd at a bit of speed changed into 3rd on the straight and my engine malfunction light flashed on, not sure how many times but i stopped straight away . there was no power loss or dodgy idlying so carried on as nothing seemed untoward. about a week later with 5 people in the car and not driving madly but still using the turbo the light flashed again
. took the car to my local subaru garage the next day and they diagnosed the MAF sensor . ( car has extended subaru warranty) the MAF was changed today so i was testing the car out on the way home to make sure it was ok , i went round the same bend as mentioned before and i was driving the same way and sure enough the light flashed on again. took the car back to the garage and they said that they put it on the diagnostic machine as before and it wasnt registering any faults? the reason they changed the MAF was a process of elimination and they would need the car for half a day and were now going to look at the turbo sensors
. has anybody heard of a fault like this before? am i damaging my car by driving it now even though everything thing is seemingly running ok. even though the garage has said its ok i will be running the car off boost till somebody with some knowhow (i:e someone on here) tells me different.
thanks

Mate, if the light has flashed there will be error codes stored and can be read by your friendly Subaru Dealer.
He has replaced the MAF .......... as a guess and got it wrong it would appear?
Has your car got an induction kit on?
Tell them to read the error codes!!
Pete
Some smart **** will come on and say that your Oil is too expensive, don't listen to them - you cannot spend too much on Oil!!

spoke to the garage before and they said that they will be looking at the turbo boost, and some sensors that could possibly be causing it!
has anybody had a fault like this on there scooby or has anybody got an idea what it may be?
cheers ste

i had an engine malfunction light flash a few times but only after giving the car a bit of stick. the light would stay on until the ignitionhad been on/off about 4/5 times then it would go out. took it in to subaru who stated that there was no fault codes showing. "bring it in next time the light comes on sir" what? i thought, 40 mile round trip.... so i took the car around the block at speed until the light came on and went back.
the code diagnosed a crankshaft sensor! they replaced it in about 10 mins and no probs since. hope this helps.
