Default Furniture discounted after we've ordered

We ordered some new furniture from the House of Fraser in early December. It still hasn't arrived but it's now 50% off. Was only 20% off when we ordered it. Seeing as it hasn't arrived yet, I'd say we're entitled to the difference. My question is, am I able to legally cancel the order at this stage - in case I have to play hardball?

Try trading standards to see where you stand before you wade in and have apop at them though I must say that HoF are very good at keeping their customers happy from my experience.

Did you go and see the stuff in the shop or order from a catalogue??

Catalogue stuff you can return as part of Distance Selling Regulations.

But they are a pretty reputable company so a friendly phone call might resolve without any heavy stuff

Yes of course, not planning on throwing any punches just yet! Just trying to ascertain where we stand. They were very helpful when our bed broke () so I'm expecting them to see our side

Have you paid in full... what about maybe cancelling the order, and then re-ordering through a different salesman perhaps...??

they will probably refund you the difference without any fuss. Don't see why you can't cancel if not. Happened to a friend, they gave him the difference before he noticed. HOF are quite good like that.

Sorry, we're ordered in the shop - and we've paid in full!

Will give them a call tomorrow to see what they say

You might be lucky, or they may say the contract was made when you ordered it.

Had this a few years back with MFI, ordered a bed which was later reduced - so we cancelled the order and had to wait a little longer but we saved a load of money so we were happy.

I wasn't pushy, just friendly but assertive. like you, I spend a lot of money there throughout the year and I think they were keen to keep my custom. I don't suppose many people bother to even ask. My fiancee seemed mortified at the idea... until they agreed to refund the difference!
