It is a 180kmh which is roughly equal to 112mph, but u may be able to go off the clock before the car cuts out. Possibly getting about 118 - 120mph

I don't know if I have missed the point but my import WRX has achieved 145 MPH , so 112 mph is hard to understand .

You cant remove the limiter on a WRX; you can only convert the car to read in MPH (by use of a drop gear on earlier cars); the limit remains but at 180MPH tather than an 180KMH (112MPH).

Buy a chip of ebay for £195 ....de limit the car and give you approx 40bhp more.

im confused by this limiter lark, just by converting the reading from kph to mph, how does that change the limiter to kick in from 180 kph to 180 mph ?

what is the restrictor, ecu based ?

i know a dongle thingy goes on the system, early types, speedo cable etc, but is the limiter a top end one or does it affect acceleration too ?

cheers....

FFS; the comment about a 40bhp chip is absolute bollocks for starters.... Youre looking at an early JDM Classic arent you? That will have a cable driven speedometer. The restriction is in the ECU; and the ECU receives a signal from the speedometer head (thats why the car barely runs in 'limp' if your speedo cable fails). The way to derestrict you car, if you feel that you need to, is to fit a small mechanical 1.6:1 drop-gearbox at the transmission end of the speedo cable. As Im sure youre aware, 1mph equates to (approximately!) 1.6kph; so fitting the drop gear causes the speedometer head to now display a 'mph' road speed. If your car still has the original kph speedo facia fitted then all you need to do now is fit a 'M' decal over the 'K' in KPH..... It might not be this easy though, because the car may have been adapted for use in the UK by fitting a recalibrated speedometer facia only (this will be an MPH facia that reads up to about 115mph): if this is the case then youll hve to fit a new 180mph facia, or the original (adapting the 'K' to 'M' as before) again.

Later JDM cars have an electronic speedo similar to all UK cars, but thats not relevant if youre looking at a 1993-1997 Classic.

Therefore fitting a mph converter inline between the clocks and gearbox changes the speed reading to MPH and in turn removes the 180kph/112mph limiter. making the clocks max speed 180MPH be very optimistic to hit this speed albeit not impossible after spending thousands. This is only relevent to the mechanical speedo's on early classics and not the ones with electronic speedometer system

I have used two different kinds, one that fits on the gearbox side, and more recently one that fits behind the clocks, prefer this type to be honest.

hope this helps
111.83 to be exact pretty sure the speedo is not calibrated to such a high degree of accuracy, so 112 will be close enough

hope this clarifys
