HOW MANY MILES TO A TANK OF FUEL ( SHOCKED )
How many mile do you all get to a tank of fuel.
Jon and I were doing at Rockingham in our rally car over the weekend just under a 1/4 of a tank of fuel for 10 stage miles = about 50 MILES PER TANK.
THAT'S AND AVERAGE OF 4.5 MPG.

I was not complaining, I was stating I was getting 4.5MPG from my scoob whilst competing ( ie hard driving ), 50 miles to a tank. ouch!
A big diference from normal driving of around 250 or so.

Mine does 230 to a tank of optimax.
The wife and i was at Rockingham at the weekend, the speed they were going i'm not surprised thats all you got, got some good footage on the camcorder, just got it, so i will have a play and post it on here when ive mastered it.
89 miles from full to orange light is the worst I ever did during my scoob ownership. This was on a yorkshire dales run with the cumbrian scoobs, I have to admit to not sticking to all limits though.

These cars drink horrendous amounts if tracked (or driven like ****** on the highway) ........... alternatively, they CAN and DO return 35+mpg figures if driven properly.

I tend to get about 10mph if driving for pleasure and something perhaps a shade over 20mph in general driving. I can't imagine what you have to do to get 35mph over a tank but I'd imagine a lot of the technique involves you being outside the car pushing. Perhaps the 35mph is a momentary figure recorded while rolling down a hill with the car out of gear?

Yes, I turn the engine off on the over-run ..... why not?? Of course I do NOT turn the key the whole way or I lose PAS!!
But hills can be coasted down quite easily - and on motorways, it's amazing how long it takes the speed to drop from, say? 80mph to 55mph when the engine really needs starting again!

4.5mpg is a bit of a bummer, but then at least you were caning it and presumably on boost most of the time. Try driving an old V12 Jag and see how you fare - it will really clobber you when you ALWAYS see single figure MPG however you drive LOL!

I believe (and no doubt I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong) that modern engines cut the fuel on the overrun so turning the engine off is a waste of time. Also, wouldn't turning the key all the way just mean you run the risk of the steering lock coming on? I'm sure the key position doesn't affect power steering given that it's run from an engine driven pump (I think).
Oh, and isn't it illegal to do that anyway? You must therefore be a chav?
Illegal ............. why?
I am in complete control of the vehicle .... and yes, you're right ref. the PAS - its the lock that is operated by the key (I also lose PAS as the engine has stopped)

Arron, I presume you run antilag? What size restrictor is in the car? Our group N car runs with a 32mm restrictor and on stage we average about 5mpg. What fuel do you use? We run Optimax with Millers CVL.
