Red face FAO NEWAGE OWNERS 24 & UNDER

How many of you have had to take your car in for warranty work, required a loan car and not got one? or got one for that matter?

booked mine in for tonight days ago, just had a phone call to say that because your not 25, we cant give you a loan car, we cant pick yours up, nor can you change your cover to our car.

what kind of policy is this, is t standard practise, or just this dealer?

in either answer, they should not have supplied a new car to a 23 yr old if they cant offer the services that a 25yr old can make use of.

wont this come in the trade descriptions act somewhere

is this just me having a real **** run on luck at the moment or what.

for those that know of my ongoing issues with the car, i would like to point out that this time, this is being caused by the supplying dealer, GILESGATE.

any one had similar dealing, feel free to comment.

a very unhappy and wishing he bought a JDM STI

I recently popped to my dealer for a service and was told no car was available but after questioning why they couldnt supply me a car for ONE day i was then told it was because of my age .

I know how you feel mate and maybe oneday the tight a*se dealers will treat us younger guys as equals

Never had a problem, had a scooby at 17 and still got a courtesy car. Lay the law down or go to another stealer.

It's not just Scooby owners.........

we took our Citroen C8 in for some warranty work and the insurance was a nightmare !! I'm 45 years old FFS !!

Stan Palmers Subaru just give me the keys for the nearest Focus / demo / mechanics car whenever I have to leave the car !!

then perhapd they shouldnt be selling cars to under 25yr olds if they cant cater for them with full aftersales service.

this is just one more thing to be wrote up on the ever increasing list of complaints.

my 22k is as good as the next blokes, so its slightly unfair to discriminate against and others for being younger tnan 25.

just out of interest, what do you guys do about it?

had this been the only hicup of ownership, i would have probably let it slide, but not this time.

cheers for the replys

Porsche are pretty good, you normally get a new Merc, or sometimes a mini cooper S from Guy Salmon. Naturally you abuse them like a ginger step child!

mate if they won't give you a loan car go somewhere that will

never had this problem before and Ive had 3 new cars since I was 20 ( now 24 )

i ve been told I cant take out a turbo as i was under 25 but they went to the hassle of getting hold of a yaris , I couldn't complaine

my only problem with the bmw garage was they kept giving me keys to to a cooper s and said give it stick.... mmm never guess i bought 2 cars from them

if they won't do this for you before you hand over the money just think what it will be like getting them to do something once you have paid

Under 25s cannot drive properly, in the eyes of the Insurance business.

Statistics back that stance up fully ................ <25 year old in a car that isn't his? - recipe for disaster!!

Thats just the way it is .......

Pete

I'm sure they would let you have a Justy??

Just for interest my neighbour Don Francis is 80 yrs old, he drives a Sierra as a daily runner and has a modified Austin Frogeyed Sprite with a 2.0 Cosworth engine in it. He is both very sensible and also has a fabulous "manic" side which liz and I are sure keeps him younger than his years

Statistics are an average mate, being the old git that you are lol, i would of thought you had realised that given the amount of years you have graced earth with so far. lol

PMSL @ your last post to, at 77 i think your lucky to still have a licence, never mind getting a loan car lol

EVO ... I was 21 when I bought my WR1 and not once have I been able to secure being given a Subaru whilst mine is in having something done or being fixed. F.in disgrace but it's the companies policy and there is nothing that the dealers can do about it at all.

Unfortunately the world does operate by statistics and averages and a person under the age of 25 is statisically more likely to thrash a car and have an accident. Therefore when calculating risk IM have inputted the blanket policy of over 25. Fair enough really when you think about their size and the difficulty of inputting standard cost and control procedures.

You will find that many of the smaller car companies don't have a problem like this. Noble, for instance, will give you one regardless of your age.

Insurance companys will insure anything !!!! Just depends how much your willing to pay..

To sum it up most subaru dealers are well tight ....
I'm 23 and have a WR1 , the best they can usally offer is a Dhaitsu Charade for me...lol

However when your puchasing a car and your on rest drive , You don't need insurance then

then i will say it agian, if there prepared to take my money, then im entitled to the same aftersales care that every man and woman is entitled to. they did point this out at the point of purchase.

by that reckoning, if i cant have the same services, they should offer a discount perhaps.

in theory you are right mate ... but you can argue it with subaru until you are blue in the face and it won't make a blind bit of difference. They really could not care less about what people think because if we choose not to buy another subaru because of our experiences it won't even register on their profit statements that we have gone. You should know by now that all these car companies operate double standards. I couldn't even test drive a Subaru STi and I had the cash sitting there to buy one outright!!! It's madness ... but madness that will never change!
