Default help with the police please

I got nicked for speeding on the 20/08/05. They give me a fixed penalty
so i payed the fine and now have just received a letter from the central ticket office saying that

Vehicle Reg AB05CDE fixed penalty issued on 05/08/05

i am in the possession of you driving licence, which has been submitted to ******** Police station connection with the above Fixed penalty Notice.

If you will provide the following details, I shall then be able to proceed further with this matter.

The serial Number of the Notice :

The offence Code:

The date of the offence took place:
(including Police Force)

Now can they still give me points if i do not give the info to them
or just forget about it and see what happens

Thanks Neil

Hmmm, wonder what happens if you say that you did not make a note of the details of the offence, sorry that you can't help them.. good chance they will have to send the licence back? although if they have no record of it that means the fine will be logged as unpaid and when they get their act together they could follow it up..

They dont give you a copy to keep as you simply sign the original and return it. I would say you enclosed it with the license and have no copies.

Let them do the hard work, at least it keeps the points off your license for a little bit longer.

Thats the problem, that copy is not yours to keep. You should have sent that in with your licence & remittance.

It will take them longer to marry up your details with the offence, unless the police have failed to submit their copies or mislaid them.

Good luck tho'

Surely thay have a copy of the offence from your reg details / I say let them do the hard work.

Are the two different dates a typo or is the 28th the date you received the fine through the post ?

Firstly, I suggest you edit your original post and not give full details of your number plate.

Also, how can the penalty be issued on 05/08 when you say you were nicked on the 20/08 ?

i say leave them to it, write back saying you kept no copies etc and that you cannot remember the details, you may be really lucky and get away with it (at least for a while).

Write to them (recorded del) to say you sent the whole FPN in and don't have any copy.
BTW, my FPN had a little tear off slip that had to accompany my donation and licence. The rest of th slip is meant to be kept.
