Default Magnex 6x4 Exhaust

Alright Folks,

I've got a bog standard bug-eye WRX, been offered a magnex 6x4 exhaust (full system from downpipe back) so its a de-cat centre etc...

Two Questions -

1 - Do you think i would notice any performance gains,

2 - How loud would this be, like a nice deep burble but nothing too loud, plus i don't want it to be impossible to drive it over about 70 without getting a sore head...

Any advice appreciated....

I had a Magnex 6X4 oval on my MY02 bugeye and it sounded real nice Probably one of the better systems for being burbly around town, loud when needed but not too bad on the motorway !!

It had to go when I went for a 3" system but I miss it in Multi story car parks !!!

I don't think you will notice any performance gains though.

Cheers for the response -

Still not 100%, scared its gonna get tiresome cos its so loud, had a 106 quiksilver before and i got a full stainless system on it, after a wee while i got really fed up, especially cos at high speeds it was pretty darn loud.... do you think this will be the same..?

I always found the Magnex pretty docile even at a motorway cruise....

It gets a bit louder when pressing on throught the gears but It's probably too quiet for a lot of people !!

I was in the same boat as you when looking for an exhaust, after having several cars with silly loud exhausts I was tiring of the constantg drone and headaches on long runs. I went for the magnex system and it is perfect for my needs, nice burble around town but not at all loud on motorway cruises, sounds quite nice when thrashing it but still fairly quiet. As for performance gains the magnex is supposed to be one of the better systems, if you have the center section decat pipe you should notice some improvements, good gains come from decatting the downpipe and uppipe as well. Go for it you wont be dissapointed.

Fallwood, do you have the 6x4 as well???

Your description sounds perfect, little meaner but only when i really want it to be... can drive up at night without waking up the street!!?!?!

The system i have been offered is bottom of the downpipe back so it is a decat, how much would be a decent price for a 2nd hand system like this?!?

Cheers for the advice
Chris.

I have the 6x4 oval, mine is fully decatted (downpipe, uppipe, center section) and its still fairly quiet, I paid 299 fitted for the center section and backbox from well lane so im not sure how much a second hand one would be.

I'll be de-catting the centre and then in a couple of months the up-pipe, gonna leave the down-pipe cat for now despite it being the most restrictive, mainly for MOT purposes!

Is it a Bug-eye you have? did you notice a big difference when you de-catted?
