Default Bloody fast Corsa

Was matched from a rolling start by an N reg Corsa last night - I was quite impressed actually. The only time I actually started to pull away (which was by some considerable margin) was on a long sweeping right hander.

BTW I have a totally standard UK turbo.

the joys of the calibra turbo engine no doubt

no weight at all in those things, I dont think I would like to be in one at speed.

There was one of those trying to race scoobs last weekend, it eventually wiped out a robin reliant, not sure how the driver got on (the robin reliant one).

It is sickening when something like this happens. I do actually and did back off as some people take things a little far - that is what the track is for - I am sure that if I had kept my foot planted silly speeds would have been encountered - I let him pass and gave him the thumbs up.

Would be interested to know what it was under the bonnet.

Interesting, there was a post about the corsa you mention Tony on Corsasport. The owner reckons he lost control on a slip road...

Lost it? lol
well i think hes probably on camera as the police helecopter was out at that time, hes looking at going down IMHO, he was baiting any impreza he could, think the speed he was doing on the slip road was considerably more than most do on the motorway

Tony

PS u have the link to that thread?

must have been a 2.0 16v. a turbo one would destroy a standard subaru once moving, they are rapid. A lad who i used to speak to had one and it was faster than a saph cossie i seen it race. a 2.0 16v corsa is more or less the same speed as my 172 and once moving, its about the same as an impreza (uk)

Wow, reading this thread i came across one of the corsa owners saying this;

"lol do your best to get insurance claim for yourself pal..... say the ****** slowed down for no reason, and there was nothing you could do once you tried to pull in !! and YOU HAVE to mention somwhere on the form that your car is worth miles more than the other car involved honestly !!

good luck matey"

Its one thing to write off someones car but then to try and blame them?!

WTF is a robin reliant doing on a motorway anyway. They should be confined to 30-50mph zones.

I had a 2.0 16V Nova with a few mods. It was running 180bhp and weighed 835KG and that was with me in the driver's seat and 1/2 tank of fuel. It was well rapid....managed a 13.6sec qtr @106MPH at York and that was with wheel spin all the way into 4th gear! A hoot to drive but handled like a banana and was a bitch in the wet.....not very practical for use in the UK.

Glad the guy in the Reliant survived though.
that 'little *****' (very mature ) your speaking about is a close freind of mine and i can tell you he is far from proud of what happened. When i rang him shortly after i would hardly call being in tears showing no remorse. He is very shook up by the whole thing and is now saying he just wants a safe boring car.

admitedly i wasnt there, i didnt see it happen, but im sure you know it takes 2 to tango.

the robin reliant driver survived with cuts and bruises i think, and the police are not pressing charges at this time. Wayne has admitted its all his fault.

rite let's get the story straight, i was comming back from the scrap yard that morning, i was on my way back and i came across 3 scoobs on the bypass, i wasn't even trying to catch them up i just got caught up and got behind them, when the traffic moved over, and the scoob's started 2 boot it, i did the same, not dangering any1. One scooby let me go past and pulled in behind me, we got to the end of the bypass came to a round about, then joined onto another, again being carefull what was around and not driving dangerously, pulled away down, 2 scoobys pulled off and i carryied on, then came behind another one green estate, we then came off the bypass as thats where i live, that way, the scooby was in front of me, i followed him onto the bypass and no-one can say it was just my fault, like adam says it takes 2 to tango, we came to come down the sliproad both slowling down, i go that way to work everyday 5 days a week i know what it's like, i decided to go past the scooby and head off towards the petrol station, as i was going past him, i remember that i was owed some money,i was not gaining any speed at this time, i decided to pull in, didnt relise the reliant robin was goin so slow, i slammed on and tried to swerve and miss him, unfortunally i couldnt and collided with him sideways. Now yes i have taken the blame for it and had no intention of blameing any1 else, to this day now i can hear the screams in my head that day, i cant sleep, and i certainly do not go round saying im proud of what i did. yes i was the one who got carryied off on the stretcher as i was badly injured at the time, the police are dealing with it end of story. get your facts rite b4 calling me a 'little *****'

Ah Wayne,
Now the fact is that we have more than one witness saying you were driving recklessly (like right on their rear bumper, oh whats braking distance?), all they need to do is go to the police (which i think they are seriously thinking about) and you will be seeing some time behind bars (or lots of points and a big fine).
We noticed you were trying to race every impreza you came across last sunday, oh yes, but i bet you didnt see the police helecopter that was out and about did you????
Your driving was, "substandard" to say the least, in the end, it was your dangerous manouvers and reckless intent on the road that could have killed the reliant driver (we are not bothered about you as one less moron on the road makes it a safer place).
One last little comment that everyone except you will agree on "you can own a fast car, but driving one......."

Tony
