Default Recomendations for a QUIET exhaust

What would you guys recommend for a quiet backbox ?

At the moment the car will have standard d/pipe and centre.

Just looking to change the rear box.

On my last Scoob, i had tried various, but all for loud, rather than quiet.

Out of the quiet ones, i liked the Magnex Oval, and the H&S backbox, but the magnex was just a bit too boomy, and i only ever ran the H&S with equal headers, so unsure of the noise with standard headers.

Am i just aswell trying to get a Prodrive or Sti rear box instead ?

Thanks guys.

you don't say which car this is for. I found the prodrive b box with P1 stamped on it to have a nice sound. this was on a classic.

I'm running a WRSport backbox on my MY03. Got it off ebay.
Sounds lovely and I do shifts and it doesn't annoy my neighbours.

Personally I'd go for a HKS silent hi power does exactly what it says on the tin.

Or get H&S to make me something to be as loud/quiet as i wanted.

Prodrive is always the best compromise between performance-noise IMHO!

Ninja from Scoobyworld.

I also drive a classic Wagon and it looks and sounds great, not too loud.

Quite like the look of the Ninja actually, but i thought it may be louder than the magnex etc. ??

Like the look of the HKS silent...but not the price tag

Milltek...forgot about them.

I was in a car with a Milltek at Knockhill the other week and it was nice and quiet, even on a full decat.

Cheers Andrew.

I've got a magnex system and don't find that too loud compared to a lot of others I've heard. The oval looks good too and is different to some of the huge round tailpipes you see.

Been and done all the loud stuff...time for stealth.

Unless they've changed design recently, the Revolution is an all-in-one centre and backbox, which means you'll be replacing your quiet CC with a straight through section.

The Revolution is probably the quietest single box option fron downpipe back, but i'd be surprised if it wasn't louder than OE CC and magnex BB.

The Revolution system is very keenly priced, and for what it would cost to have an extra resonator put into the center it is probably still cheaper than other 3" systems and will be even quieter - and proven at over 500bhp...

I went from a TSL centre with Magnex 6X4 Oval back box to a 3" Revolution system and it is a lot quieter........ particularly while pootling around town.

I run the full Revolution system including the DP....very quiet and a lovely but not intrusive noise at full throttle. Can do a motorway run and not have a hint of drone - perfect.

had prodrive, scoobysport, scorpion and now revolution. revolution is 3" so u would have to change whole system. prodrive was the quietest of the three. You could go for the 05 one thats for sale but the rear hanger is the wrong side of the box. not too difficult to remove and have rewelded in correct position or just not connect.

Hi Lindsay. I have run and fitted several Revolution systems. I cannot say how it will perform as a BB only but the exhaust is good quality, not too quiet and certainly not an annoying noise. The guarantee is absolutely fantastic.
Contact their MD, Glenn Cambell on 0191 477 0785 and tell him you are a mate.

Yet another vote for revolution.
Used to have a system named "armageddon" for that very reason, but alas over time the drone became unbearable.
I changed everything for the revolution system as it is a slip jointed system and cannot be just bolted up to other makes.
I was promised it was quiet (from revolution on order) I stated it must be track freindly... (I'd already wasted £100 on a trackday only to get black flagged for noise after 4 laps with the armageddon on)
When it turned up and I noted it was a straight through sysytem with only one back box I was ... and straight on the phone to them saying did you ***** up may order and forget the centre box.
They assured me it was quiet (again )
So on it went.
Fitted like a glove and is beautiful and quiet.
and today she produced 405 BHP (has done 448 BHP on race fuel) so I think I can safely say it's not restrictive.

Without stating the obvious...how about a standard backbox? Unless your running huge BHP, the difference is negligable.

Then spend the wad you've saved on a more beneficial power mod like a remap

Ali, i had comtemplated keeping the standard exhaust, but i've actually got hold of a centre decat system and bacbbox from someone, 3" system, but it's not much louder than standard.
How well it performs, i dont know.
