Default Focus ST....?

"The new Focus ST is the most powerful Focus road car developed to date and has proved its potential by lapping the infamous Nurbürgring a full 10sec faster than the original Focus RS, itself a modern performance icon. Ford TeamRS, the company's UK-based racing and performance arm, has developed a car specifically for the performance enthusiast without compromising day-to-day comfort or practicality."

The above was taken from a website http://www.carpages.co.uk/ford/ford-focus-part-1-13-09-05.asp
I know a few people here were recently discussing how good the RS as a drivers car is, does this mean the ST reviews are going to be sublime ? If you could get 20% off would you be beating down a Ford dealers door ? Discuss

p.s. this is not an exam question

The ST is quicker round the 'ring than the RS according to team RS, I think that is just hype, though the ST does look a very nice car, especially at privaledge prices.

I mention the 20% cos of the privelege prices (ford employee discount) the st, st2 and st3 range from £17000 odd up to £19500 mrp. I can get the top of the range (with 6cd, leather recaros etc) for £15600ish instead of £19500ish.

If the hype is to be believed I think this makes the car up into Subaru WRX terroritory and for £5000 less! I swore I wasn't going to change my car for a while....but........

I think that the new Focus looks awkward at best. They'll really muffed up the lines of the car, esp at the rear. The ST guise improves things though, and I should imagine its a cracking drive, even if its FWD.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ford change its looks quite a bit in the ear future!

Thinking about getting one of these for the better half, in 'basic' spec ... if you go onto autoebid.com you can get these for less than £15k from a broker already, either in 3dr or 5dr guise ... or you can get the top of the range '3' model for £16,354 ... I've alrady got all the press release documentation from my local Ford dealer in Hertford

Personally I think its a cracking car and for the money is worth entertaining. We can then race - I have a UK300 PPP

Autoebid advertise a lot of unrealistic prices and when as I did tried to order at the prices advertised they couldnt do it. I have however used Autobytel for my current VXR order and they have been good. Same people are offering discounts on the ST.

I'm thinking about swapping my VXR order for one - Vauxhall dont seem to be able to deliver

only 10 seconds round a 9 minute lap is meaningless ,,you would get much bigger variations than that just with different drivers,,,,infact a full tank of fuel as opposed to an empty one would make more difference than that.

A mate of mine has a Fiesta ST and is looking at "upgrading" to the Focus ST. The spec looks good to me and as he can also get a Ford employee discount, I think he said that he could get the basic ST for as little as £13,600 That is a bargain!!!!

Unfortunately the privelege purchase means u gotta keep it 9 months, still it would be a fun 9 months hopefully

Anyone know when the car mags are going to start doing the test drive reviews ?
